FY 23-24 Budget & Tax Rate

Transparency Note: The Council is providing the information on this page to help our community better understand the budget and tax rate setting process. Please read the definitions and explanations and if you have questions, you may call city hall at 817-636-2462.

Each year, the city council for Rhome considers a new budget and sets a new tax rate for the community.  Staff begins to evaluate our financial information in the spring in order to prepare for the fall passage of the new budget.  The council has had a budget retreat, reviewed the base budget and has reviewed the proposed numbers for next year.  The Council approves budgets for our general fund (main account), fire fund (Fire-EMS services, parks fund (family and veterans park), and the utility fund (water and waste water).

The City Council has approved the budget and set the tax rate for the next fiscal year. The Council had been considering raising the tax rate to the de minimis rate of 0.504186; however, they voted to keep the tax rate the same as the prior year at $.437185.  They further provided staff direction to restrict any additional funds generated by this rate for the use of street repair and infrastructure projects.
