Fire-EMS and Police Support

During our current budget discussions, Council voted to add three (3) firefighter positions to our staff team. We have one (1) full-time chief and three (3) full-time firefighters as of FY 23-24. With the hiring of the new employees, we will now have two (2) full-time paid employees on each shift and will support those roles through our part-time staff and volunteers. Rhome is growing and we need to ensure we are providing public safety staff members to respond to our needs.

Fun facts: The development agreement with PMB (Rolling V Ranch development) allows for one full-time firefighter position to be paid by the developer and it also requires PMB to fund a full-time police officer and vehicle in order to help keep our community safe. This is a great example of our public agency partnering with the private developer to help with our expenditures and to support Rhome!

We also have an on-going inter-local agreement with the City of Aurora to fund a portion of a police officer position, while we provide them with police services.  Through this partnership, we are being good neighbors and supplementing our budget through the agreement.
